Laughing gas sedation
While most dental visits are pleasant, not every visit will be smooth. In these cases, our dentist may use laughing gas for some procedures. This ensures that our patients have an enjoyable experience at our dental office. Laughing gas is a colourless and odourless sedative that relaxes patients by emitting a pleasurable feeling.
Our dentists use this type of sedation during tooth extraction to ensure that patients experience little to no discomfort during the procedure. Furthermore, with laughing gas sedation, patients remain conscious even after the dentist administers it. Moreover, it works fast, and its impact is easily reversible. It is among the safest kinds of sedation available with minor side effects. Most of the time, the gas takes its impact within three to five minutes of administration. After treatment, our dentist will reverse this gas’s effect by making you inhale oxygen for at least five minutes. Yet, it is not always foolproof because some patients are resistant and may need higher doses. Instead, our dentist may use chloroform based sedatives as a supplement to the laughing gas.
Dana Dental provides laughing gas sedation for patients who experience dental anxiety at the thought of their visit to a dental office. Contact us today to book your next appointment.
